|DISCARDED HISTORY: THE GENIZAH OF MEDIEVAL CAIRO|
|The University of Cambridge displays ancient documents that take people to the world of medieval Jews. |
Reportedly dated between 9th and 19th century, the exhibit will last for at least half a year at the University Library.
The artifacts provide a unique and "unparalleled" glimpse into the daily lives of Jewish men and women. For one, the people of Fustat (Old Cairo) deposited over 200,000 unwanted writings in a purpose-built storeroom in the Ben Ezra synagogue.
