JewishCare Sydney

JewishCare in Sydney used to be known as Jewish Community Services.

The name was changed to JewishCare in November 1999
to reflect the change of the welfare industry and in the services they offer.
What they actually provide is -  Jewish caring.

Mission Statement

"The goal of JewishCare is to promote and maintain the wellbeing of Jewish people in the State of New South Wales, in accordance with the principles of dignity, independence and the Talmudic concept of Tzedakah (Social Justice); and to represent the Jewish community of New South Wales in matters of immigration and welfare."

Since 1936, JewishCare has been involved in providing social services and programs of social justice.

Since its inception, JewishCare has been the vanguard of forming and implementing Australia's humanitarian programs for Refugees and for those who suffer as a result of disability or disadvantage.

Now, as always, the programs and services of JewishCare are aimed at the needs of the Jewish community but are available to all.

Although still involved in matters of immigration, JewishCare has exteneded its services to cater for all needs and we can now boast a proud record of achivement and innovation in caring for people with a disability, the frail and aged, and children, families and individuals in crisis and distress.

This translates into over 50 services and programs catering for people suffering a mental health problem, the trials of divorce and separation, caring for an aging relative, youth programs, specific programs for Holocaust Survivors and respite programs giving carers the well earned time off, to name but a few.
