Camping and Tramping

Camping and Tramping in Australia's National Parks
$21.95 October 2002.

Australia's national parks, forests and reserves are world-famous treasures, but comprehensive and up-to-date information on them is often difficult to obtain.

In Keren Flavell's book the most accessible of the 500 recreational and over 3000 nature reserves in Australia are featured.

It's no fun turning up to a campsite after a long day in the car to find you can't have that hot shower you were looking forward to.

Or travelling to a distant campsite to get away from the crowds, only to find it's the most popular spot around over Easter!

In this book for experienced and beginner campers and hikers they'll find abundant information on…

" Park locations and access
" Campsites, facilities, costs
" Special walks and features
" Aboriginal sites, sacred sites, heritage information and bush tucker
" Contact addresses and phone numbers
" More than 120 park and state maps

Written with holiday planning in mind, this is an essential guide for preparing your trip and perfect for slipping into your daypack when you're away

BIOGRAPHY - Keren Flavell

Keren Flavell has always had a passion for the outdoors, from family camping holidays as a toddler to overnight hiking trips as a young adult.

While undertaking an extended holiday along the east coast of Australia in 1993 she was inspired to write a guidebook about Australia's national parks, firmly believing it is too easy for people to miss out on the best parts of the country.

Since completing the book Keren continued to be active in travel media, hosting a travel show on 3RRR for more than 5 years, and writing a variety of travel articles for publications overseas and in Australia.

Her career is now in the production of digital media content for the internet with a focus on electronic music.

Although occasional travel is required, her forays into the bush are now limited to weekend relaxation.

With the growing popularity of the internet, the desk-bound worker has now many more resources at their finger tips and Keren recommends that anyone planning a trip away should go online and see what is available.

This new release of Camping and Tramping provides links to each of the state and territory web sites that contain the park information.

So now you have no excuse at all….......go see Australia under the stars.
