At 14 years of age, when most teenagers are discovering who they are, Lilly Skurnik lost her eye sight through a serious brain tumour.

The plunge into darkness was not only physical but metaphorical as Lilly struggled to make sense of her new life.

Through an extraordinary strength of spirit and determination to overcome what life had dealt her, Lilly went on to lead an exciting and fulfilling independent life.

At 70 years of age Lilly set out to write her story. “Out of Sight ” is the result: a compelling and inspiring book that offers the reader a reflection on the inner world of a blind person and an understanding into the spirit required to live without sight.
